Anxiety

Symptoms of constant fear, distress, anxiety and tension that a person experiences and cannot control when he interprets certain stimuli he perceives in his own body or in the external environment as threat and danger, and accompanying avoidance behaviors from certain events and situations generally constitute anxiety disorders.

A certain level of anxiety is natural, even necessary. It is a functional mechanism from an evolutionary perspective. It is a biological mechanism that functions to protect and mobilize the person against danger or threat. Certain physical symptoms that concern the autonomic nervous system, such as tension, tremors, palpitations, dizziness, and sweating, are physical indicators of anxiety.

However, when anxiety is severe and persists for a long time and gets out of control, this indicates an anxiety disorder. There are different subtypes of diseases in this group that vary depending on the source of anxiety: Generalized anxiety disorder, Panic disorder, Obsessive compulsive disorder, Social anxiety disorder, Post-traumatic stress disorder, Specific phobia, etc. A person may have more than one anxiety disorder at the same time.
