Staying in the Moment

Anxiety, the birth of this word took place in Ancient Greece and appears with the word anxiety.

With the lockdown during the pandemic period, humanity fell into a great void and had the opportunity to listen to itself. Although we have dreams about the future and we think that none of our dreams for the future will come true, this dream causes anxiety. Right after our giant dreams, we wonder, "Will these dreams come true?" What awaits me in the future? Our minds started to be busy with questions. While we were able to give positive answers to these questions and produce systematic solutions at first, the prolongation of the Pandemic period and the transformation of the future into an uncertain void caused these thoughts to take root and begin to settle in our belief system.

But how do we change this belief system of ours? I've been thinking about this question since I first started writing this article. As I think about it, new plans come to my mind, and I enter a vicious circle again, filled with the emptiness of uncertainty. Ah, if only the genie coming out of the lamp were real. If only this genie could answer our questions, allow us to see the future, and get rid of this anxiety immediately. We humans think that it is necessary to have the perfect in our lives. Although this has its positive aspects, we should not ignore the aspects that wear us out and make us get lost in the process.

Seeking perfection is one of the main causes of anxiety. The main thing is not to find a way to get rid of anxiety about the future, but to enjoy staying in the moment and living in the moment. So why do we get caught up in such a rush for tomorrow? When we think of living in the moment, the careless type of person always comes to mind. Even this thought distracts us from the moment. Living in the moment is being able to enjoy the situation we are in at that moment and enjoy the moment. Maybe aiming only to win during a race will get us to our goal and we will win. But what about the fun of the whole racing process? Will he ever come back? While we look for the future ahead, we fall behind and get stuck in that gap.

I wish to stay in the moment without worrying about the future and regretting the past. So what does it mean to stay in the moment?
