Toilet Habit (Child)

Enuresis is a problem where bedwetting continues after the age of 4-5. After organic causes are excluded, the disorder is thought to result from developmental-psychological factors. Primary enuresis is used for cases where bedwetting continues from birth, and secondary enuresis is used for cases where the child's diaper remains dry for a period of time and the problem begins again.

While primary enuresis is often associated with developmental factors, secondary enuresis is often due to psychological factors such as depression, anxiety, and stressful life events. If enuresis is left untreated, it can lead to problems such as low self-esteem, depression, and anxiety disorders. Cognitive behavioral psychotherapy and medications are useful in treatment.
